Samsung S5230 Review

The Samsung S5230 is an awesome touch screen phone with a good 3 inch screen, and great looks. Actual measurements of the phone are 104 x 53 x 11.9 mm and it weighs 92 grams, which is a good light weight for a smart phone. The screen is a very large 3 inches, and just beneath it are two call-related buttons as well as a good sized NavPad that makes it easier to navigate around the interface. It is a slender phone, that will fit quite nicely in the hand and looks really clean and modern with its rounded edges.

There is a music player that will support all of the popular music formats, as well as having an FM Radio. Internal memory is a small 50MB, but of course this can be increased by using a MicroSD card, and will apparently go up to 8GB. Do not expect the sound quality of a Walkman phone, but the sound is decent and will be more than suitable for most users.

Camera-wise, it has a 3 mega pixel camera, with an LED Flash and auto focus (to prevent blurry images if you move slightly). 3 Mega Pixels is’nt bad, but one would have expected atleast 3.2 from a phone of this statue. Some advanced features of the camera include Smile Detection, which will automatically take a picture when a person smiles; and Picture Album, which is a clever means to displaying and viewing images.

There are of course the basic applications such as a calendar, alarm and organiser, as well as a few advanced features. Advanced features include hand recognition software, and a feature called Screen Gesture Lock. This basically lets you unlock the phone by drawing a letter on the screen, which will then unlock it and open up an application that you defined for that particular letter.

Overall the Samsung S5230 is a great phone that looks fantastic, has excellent internet connection and superb applications.
